About Dr. Sujata Kelkar Shetty
Dr. Sujata Kelkar Shetty is the published author of 99 not out! Your Guide to a long and healthy life. She wrote a mind- body health column for Mint Business Newspaper for many years. She is also an ICF certified life coach and a US trained biological scientist with publications in peer-reviewed journals besides.
Dr Shetty’s journey into mind-body health began when she studied how stress suppresses the immune system during her post doctoral training at the NICHD in the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. Her columns in the Mint were written to help increase public awareness of the connection between lifestyle choices and physical and mental health. She is passionate about sharing the research evidence that shows how healthful behaviours can protect us from disease while increasing our life span. She does this through her book, talks, and carefully curated wellbeing workshops.
Her book 99 not out! Your Guide to a long and healthy life was well reviewed in over a dozen magazines and dailies when it was published. Her writing is unique in its emphasis on the latest medical research coupled with interviews with well respected doctors and scientists. Like her writing, the talks and workshops are unique in their emphasis on research studies that unequivocally show how and why certain lifestyle habits enhance wellbeing and prevent both mental and physical disease.
Dr. Shetty is also an ICF Certified Life coach. She assists people in renewing their mental and physical health by combining her training in coaching with her knowledge in preventive health. She offers one on one coaching sessions and group coaching sessions.
Dr. Shetty is a trained Hindustani Classical vocalist and enjoys singing Bhajans and Sufi compositions. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics from University of Wisconsin- Madison, a PhD in Toxicology from the University of Kentucky-Lexington and completed her coach training at the Coaches Training Institute (CTI).
She received the ShethepeopleTV 40 over 40 award given to high achieving women over the age of 40, chosen from all over the country.
